Carleton University River and Canal Buildings

Two major buildings were built for the University, one near the Canal at 95,000 s.f and the other, shown above, near the Ottawa River at 140,000 s.f. These additions were designed by Moriyama and Teshima, and Griffiths, Rankin and Cook Architects. Our firm took on the challenge of designing recording studios and a large cinema/lecture theatre for the film and journalism programs in the River Building, and multiple lecture rooms and labs in the Canal building for the Master of Applied Science in Biomedical Engineering and the Aerospace and Sustainable Energy programs. Acoustical challenges also included multi-story atriums in the buildings linking to all the classrooms.

Project Overall Value: $30 million for Canal and $55 Million for River,
