Residential
Claridge Moon
The Claridge Moon is the first residential property that is directly connected to Ottawa’s light rail transit system. State of the Art Acoustik was instrumental in the acoustic development of this modern condominium. Among architectural noise isolation and mechanical noise control SOTA also reduced vibration transmission and plumbing noise through drawing reviews.
Starwood SOHO Italia
The Starwood Group and Roderick Lahey Architects have created a remarkable condominium, the Starwood SOHO Italia. SOTA took charge of the architectural acoustics design as well as mechanical noise control, and an environmental noise study. Some of the more specialized services include noise analysis for the fitness room, plumbing noise and vibration control.
Lebreton Flats Condominiums
The Lebreton Flats condominium buildings, designed by Claridge Homes and Dan Hanganu Architects are some of few that have wood, steel, and concrete in their construction. SOTA was asked to conduct a noise study of the nearby roadway to assess any traffic noise and mitigate it as best as possible. This was one of many tasks which included architectural noise isolation, mechanical noise control, vibration control, and plumbing noise control, through drawing reviews, then inspections with testing once construction began.
Arthaus
The Arthaus by DevMcGill is an award-winning condominium in the heart of downtown Ottawa. SOTA played a crucial part in the acoustic quality of the building by doing architectural reviews for sound and vibration isolation from mechanical units and plumbing noise. State of the Art Acoustik also conducted a traffic study to determine which roadways were audible from the development then made suggestions to mitigate the noise in the units.
ICON Condominium
Located near Dow’s Lake, stands the tallest residential building in Ottawa, the Icon Condominiums. SOTA took part in the design of this impressive condo tower with Claridge Homes and Hariri-Pontarini Architects to ensure the residents have the best possible experience. Our key contributions include architectural noise isolation, mechanical noise control, vibration control, site inspections and verification testing.
UpperWest
The UpperWest condos by Minto is in Westboro and allows for easy access to both downtown Ottawa and Gatineau Park. State of the Art Acoustik assisted in construction document review to improve the architectural acoustics, and to control mechanical noise and vibrations. Another important part of the process is the verification testing, there were extensive examinations to ensure that the spaces performed as expected acoustically.
Beechwood Condominium
In collaboration with Minto, SOTA aided in the design of the Beechwood Condominiums in Ottawa. The beautifully modern suites follow the standards provided by the Ontario Home Warranty Project, Bulletin 19R, thanks to the superior sound isolation as well as mechanical and environmental noise control. This was achieved through the control of vibrations, plumbing noise, as well as drawing reviews to ensure ideal architecture for acoustic performance.
Tribeca Condominiums
In downtown Ottawa there is a giant condo complex, the 27 storey Tribeca Condominiums was designed by Claridge Homes and Dan Hanganu Architects. SOTA was invited to this project to create wall and floor types for ideal sound transmission as well as improve the overall acoustics with respect to Tarion Bulletin 19R. The standards were met using thorough plan mechanical and architectural plan review to optimize the acoustic performance.
The Bowery
Another fabulous condo in downtown Ottawa is the Bowery by Richcraft. State of the Art Acoustik provided invaluable support in the acoustic department. Some key contributions include the architectural plan reviews which improved mechanical noise and vibration isolation. SOTA also performed a traffic noise assessment to assure that the tenants would have peaceful homes.
Starwood SOHO Champagne
The Starwood SOHO Champagne Condominiums are a prime display of acoustical excellence in Ottawa. The crucial contributions from SOTA include mechanical noise control, architectural noise isolation and inspection testing. With SOTA’s help, the Starwood Group and Roderick Lahey Architects improved the overall acoustic performance of the entire condominium complex.
Central Condominiums
The Central Condominiums are a LEED certified building, designed by Urban Capital and Core Architects. SOTA’s main role throughout this project was mechanical noise control. This includes considering all the moving pieces of the HVAC system and generator, such as the noise and vibrations emitted or transmitted through the duct path, through the structure to units or to neighboring buildings.
Gotham Condominium
The Gotham Condos in downtown Ottawa were designed by Bel-Ottawa and Core Architects. The quiet living spaces are maintained through sound isolation of the mechanical penthouses with highly specified equipment to mitigate machinery noise and vibrations.
Plaza Condominiums
Claridge Homes and Neuf Architects have created two 27 storey condo towers in downtown Ottawa, the Plaza Condominiums Phases 1-4. SOTA played an integral role in improving the habitability of these units. Given the loud mechanical noise, there was a need for detailed silencing solutions such as floating slabs and suspended ceilings which SOTA provided, to the OBC standard.
Starwood SOHO 201 Parkdale
The Starwood SOHO condominiums at 201 Parkdale, designed by the Starwood Group and Roderick Lahey Architects, display exemplary living standards. Some of the key contributions from SOTA include a traffic study, architectural noise isolation and mechanical noise and vibration control.
The Mondrian Condominium
The Mondrian Condominium is a beautiful building designed by Urban Capital and CORE Architects. SOTA conducted a traffic noise study for relevant roadways, regulated mechanical noise and vibrations and made suggestions to the design for optimal noise isolation.
Sussex Condominium
The prestigious Sussex Condominiums were designed by Claridge Homes and Dan Hanganu Architects, they can be found directly beside the Chateau Laurier. SOTA was involved just like with other condominium projects with the architectural acoustics and mechanical noise control. However a unique consideration was the ductwork, it was considerably loud, so we designed custom silencers. This building also went a step further to consider interior acoustics and make material choices with ideal acoustics in mind.
