Connaught Campus
There is a firing range on the Connaught Campus of the RCMP and as such acoustic mitigation measures were required. SOTA was welcomed to the project before it was built which allowed for thorough architectural reviews to improve the sound isolation. Once the facility was built, tests and inspections were conducted to ensure that the space would not be overwhelmingly loud.
Mattawa Plains Compound
The Mattawa Plains Compound is home to the Canadian Special Operations Regiment, and the renovation will ensure their ability to operate efficiently. State of the Art Acoustik Inc. provided acoustical designs for 2 out of the 10 buildings in the new compound. These designs had to meet the very high speech privacy requirements of the military.

Ottawa Police Service – South Campus
The Ottawa Police Service is commissioning a new campus in the south end of Ottawa, which will help support the community as well as ensure the operational law enforcement requirements. SOTA will be working on the acoustical design and audiovisual system in the new operators center, training and meeting spaces.
Canadian Special Operations Training Centre
The Canadian Special Operations Training Centre (CSOTC) was looking into a new pavilion for specified training regiments. This pavilion would require a high functioning audiovisual system as well as an acoustically designed space should it be used by the CSOTC. SOTA was happy to help discuss the feasibility of such a project and provide feedback and recommendations.

La Macaza Institution
State of the Art Acoustik worked on La Macaza Institution for two years to help ensure a good acoustic environment. SOTA made acoustical models for the interior which track the reverberations and speech intelligibility. There were also simulations for exterior and mechanical noise which highlighted the paths of sound and how to reduce the unwanted sounds.
Kandahar airfield memorial
In 2006 the Afghanistan Memorial Hall was relocated to the National Defense Headquarters, this building was not equipped do provide the silence and tranquility of a memorial. SOTA designed the space to reduce reverberation time and mechanical noise.

CPIC – RCMP Headquarters Ottawa
The CPIC – RCMP have upgraded their headquarters in Ottawa by investing in a large-scale computing facility. This requires efficient cooling methods to ensure the computers do not overheat, which in turn produces mechanical noise. Despite all those who rose to the challenge, SOTA came through with the best solution to mitigate the noise. After carefully measuring the sound from the units and modeling different possibilities, SOTA suggested a different type of mechanical unit which would operate at a lower noise level.
Dwyer Hill – Eastern Ontario Campus
The Eastern Ontario Campus of the Department of National Defense had some loud spaces like a cafeteria and a gym. State of the Art Acoustik was able to help these areas through thorough acoustical testing and analysis. In the end the weight room and mess hall were significantly enhanced by the improved reverberation time.

National Printing Bureau
The National Printing Bureau and Heating Plant, now the Department of National Defense, is a heritage site due to its historical associations. SOTA was invited to review the mechanical noise in the laboratory, where there had previously been an accident due excessive background noise which impeded vocal communication. To solve this serious problem SOTA tested the sound levels to find the source, then provided acoustical solutions that would minimize the noise in the laboratory.
